The battle for Premier League survival took another turn this weekend as Everton were plunged further into trouble, while Brentford, Leeds and Watford picked up big victories.
Frank Lampard’s Everton side are only out of the relegation zone because their goal difference is superior to 18th-placed Watford after being beaten 1-0 by Wolves at Goodison Park on Sunday, although they do have three games in hand on the Hornets.
Four consecutive league defeats means they are just five points above bottom-of-the-table Norwich.
Brentford have somewhat pulled away from trouble after beating Burnley 2-0 in west London on Saturday, with back-to-back wins over teams in the bottom three taking them eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Burnley, meanwhile, are now on a run of three league defeats in a row, with just one point separating themselves, Watford and Everton. However, Sean Dyche’s side boast a superior goal difference to both teams.

Leeds eased their relegation fears with a dramatic 2-1 win over Norwich to move four points clear of safety, ending a run of six league defeats on the bounce.
The result spells more misery for Norwich, who are now six points adrift of safety with nine games left to play after back-to-back defeats to relegation rivals in the space of four days.
Watford leapfrogged Burnley into 18th to move level on points with Everton with Sunday’s 2-1 win at Southampton – their first victory in their last five league outings.
