Sadio Mane scored the winning kick as Senegal beat Egypt 3-1 on penalties to send his side to the World Cup after their second-leg playoff had ended 1-1 after extra time at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade.
Hamid Fathi’s fourth-minute own goal had seen the hosts win the game 1-0 to send the two teams into extra time after Egypt had won the first leg 1-0 on Friday night.
However, after 30 minutes more action could not separate the two countries, the tie was decided on penalties, with Liverpool forward Mo Salah, as well as both Zizo and Mostafa Mohamed, all missing from the spot as Senegal triumphed 3-1.
The draw for the World Cup finals takes place on Friday at 5pm.
