Jos Buttler has been ruled out of England’s third ODI against Sri Lanka, with Surrey’s Dan Lawrence called into the squad.
An ECB spokesperson said: “Surrey batter Dan Lawrence has been called into the England Men’s squad for the third Metro Bank ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
“Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the match due to the hamstring injury he suffered in the second Metro Bank ODI at Headingley last night and will undergo further assessment.”

Sri Lanka showed great fight to halt England’s chase and secure a 16-run victory at Headingley, levelling the three-match ODI series at 1-1 – but England’s defeat was compounded by a hamstring injury to Jos Buttler.
The England batter had looked set to play a decisive role in the chase before pulling up in the 38th over, with the hosts 254-4. He was forced to retire hurt, leaving England’s pursuit of Sri Lanka’s total in the balance.
He returned to the crease in the 48th over in a bid to rescue the chase, but could add only two more runs before being dismissed. Will Jacks (52), Rehan Ahmed (0), Gus Atkinson (16) and Jamie Overton (2) also fell as England’s hopes faded.
England managed just one four and one six from the 37th over onwards as Sri Lanka closed out a 16-run victory.
