Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron had to be split by security as an amicable build-up erupted into a surprise war of words at Friday’s fiery final weigh-in.
The two rivals locked foreheads in the middle of the stage before trading insults as a fired-up Cameron vowed to “smash her head in” ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster super-welterweight world title fight in Birmingham.
American Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs), the WBA and WBC belt-holder, came in at 148lbs and three pounds lighter than her last fight against Mary Spencer back in October 2025.
WBO champion Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) followed in at 147.6lbs for what will mark her second contest at super-welterweight after April’s victory over Michaela Kotaskova.
It beckons as one of the most high-profile fights in women’s boxing, Mayer having reigned as a three-weight world champion and two-weight world champion Cameron the only woman to beat Katie Taylor in the Irish icon’s professional career.

Rarely has either fighter flirted with the prospect of trash-talk throughout a respectful build-up to this weekend’s main event, the two instead pointing towards their respective achievements and the ease at which they agreed to make one of the biggest fights in boxing.
The altercation appeared to be sparked by words exchanged between the pair upon making contact, Cameron seemingly unhappy with comments made by Mayer.
“She isn’t intimating me, all that yapping, getting in my face, watch now, watch tomorrow,” said Cameron.
“You’re deluded. Shut your mouth, you are so deluded. I didn’t say a word, you are making things up because you don’t believe in yourself. You’re going to get humbled.
“I’m gonna smash her f****** head in now.”
Nobody saw this coming. Perhaps not even Mayer.
“She said I’m too slow, but there is no way Chantelle Cameron is faster than me,” said the American.
“I didn’t know this Chantelle Cameron existed, I like it.”

Dubois and Moore clash again
Tensions also threatened to boil over once more between Caroline Dubois and Amelia Moore as the rivals delivered yet another volley of insults in their latest animated face-off.
WBC and WBO lightweight world champion Dubois tipped the scales at 134.8lbs before issuing a final warning to her American opponent.
“She knows I’m coming to take her head off. Welcome to my world,” warned Dubois.
Moore hit back, insisting: “This is my world. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this point, my whole life.”
The American challenger, who is 4-0 as a professional, was marginally lighter than her opponent at 134.4lbs.
Dubois could yet find herself on a collision course to fight WBO, WBA and IBF super featherweight world champion Alycia Baumgardner, who is stepping into the Londoner’s division to face Elif Nur Turhan on November 8.
Elsewhere on the card Terri Harper came in at 137.8lbs as she returns to the ring for the first time since her defeat to Dubois in April.
She takes on another former opponent of Dubois in Houston’s Miranda Reyes, who weighed in at 136.6lbs.
Coventry’s Jessica Barry came in at 125.6lbs ahead of her clash with America’s Reina Tellez, who weighed in at 125.6lbs having famously stepped in to fight Amanda Serrano at 15 days’ notice earlier this year.
Tysie Gallagher (121.6lbs) is meanwhile preparing to make her debut under the MVP banner as she takes on Chicago’s Brandi Robinson (121.6lbs).
