Newcastle are competing with another Premier League club to secure the signing of Brazilian defender Diego Carlos from Sevilla.
Newcastle are understood to have made a ?30m offer for Carlos, which has been matched by the Premier League rival, while an Italian club have also tabled a lower bid.
