Miyu Yamashita equaled the LPGA Tour’s 72-hole scoring record in claiming a dominant, nine-stroke victory in the CPKC Women’s Open..
The Japanese star’s closing birdie on Sunday signed off a four-under final round of 66 to take her total for the week to 23 under par and 257 strokes, securing a wire-to-wire win in Edmonton.
Sei Young Kim also shot 257 in the 2018 Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic in Wisconsin, finishing 31 under.
A stroke ahead after Thursday’s opening round, thanks to a course-record 62, Yamashita posted a 64 on Friday to open a five-shot lead, before carding a 65 on Saturday.
That had her six strokes ahead entering the final round at Royal Mayfair, Yamashita pushed her winning margin to nine for a tournament record in the Canadian national championship, breaking Jin Young Ko’s 262 set in 2019 at Magna in Aurora, Ontario.
Yamashita’s four LPGA Tour titles have come in four different countries. She won the Meijer LPGA Classic in the USA in June, after claiming a first major success at the AIG Women’s Open title in Wales along with taking the Maybank Championship title in Malaysia last year. She has 13 Japan LPGA victories.

Fellow Japanese player Yuri Yoshida was second at 14 under after a closing 69. Kim was a further shot back after her final-round 67.
Seventeen-year-old Anna Huang was the top Canadian, signing off her week with an impressive 65 to tie for fourth at 12 under.
Aphrodite Deng, the 16-year-old amateur who won the 2025 US Girls’ Junior, tied for seventh at 11 under after shooting 67 on Sunday.
Two-time winner Brooke Henderson finished seven under after a closing 70. World No 1 Nelly Korda shot 69 to get to five under.
