Djokovic bids to stay in Australia to defend title LIVE!

Speaking to reporters earlier, Djokovic’s mother, Dijana, said the family had “never faced a situation like this before” and that the situation is “very tough”.

She added: “These past five or six days, we’ve tried to in a way fight for him so that voice is heard across the world.

“We’ve gone through various emotions, sadness, despair, disappointment, fear – there were moments where he didn’t have his phone and we didn’t know what was going on. Suddenly we couldn’t communicate with him, we didn’t know if he was sick, if he was hungry, if he was okay.

“There are certain things as mother that I can’t get over, I think all mothers of the world will understand me.”
