Sheffield United vs QPR, Tuesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

Sheffield United were surprisingly held at home by Birmingham on Saturday, but they are still sitting pretty at the top of the table and will still be confident heading into this one.

QPR have crept into the top six and are improving all the time under Michael Beale. They have also been decent on the road this season, winning three of their last four away from home. They could run the Blades close, but I’m backing the home side to quickly return to winning ways.

Cardiff vs Blackburn, Tuesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

Cardiff grabbed a decent late point at home to Burnley on Saturday as they continue their search for a new manager following the departure of Steve Morison. Caretaker Mark Hudson takes charge again on Tuesday night.

Blackburn have been inconsistent of late. It’s loss, win, loss, win, loss, win in their last six. Can they break that run? I think they could by sneaking the win.

Reading vs Norwich, Tuesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

Reading continue to defy expectations as they fly high near the top of the table. Is it time to take them seriously as a promotion prospect? Keep going like they are and you never know!

Norwich most certainly are. They dug out a narrow win at Blackpool at the weekend to close the gap on Sheffield United at the top. But Reading could well hold them here.

Middlesbrough vs Birmingham, Wednesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

It wasn’t looking good for Chris Wilder after that result at Coventry on Saturday. It just hasn’t worked out for him on Teesside, which is a shame because hopes were so high there when he took the job.

Birmingham got a great point at Sheffield United on Saturday. They are ticking along in mid-table for now and unbeaten in four, which will suit them perfectly this season. But teams so often get a result after sacking a manager, and I’ll back Boro to do that.

Watford vs Swansea, Wednesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button

That was a great start for Slaven Bilic and Watford on Sunday, as they put four goals past Stoke in a performance that really showed off their attacking potential. If they can keep that going they will be challenging the top two in no time.

Swansea enjoyed an excellent late win at West Brom on Saturday, as they continued their recent climb up the table after a slow start this season. But if Watford look as strong as they did on Sunday then they should be too good.

Preston vs West Brom, Wednesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

A sixth goalless draw for Preston on Saturday, as they held Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. There have been just seven goals in their 11 games so far, which is pretty staggering to be honest!

Steve Bruce will be under real pressure at West Brom. Just one win all season is simply not good enough and he needs to find a formula soon because the Baggies should be aiming at least for the top six. Confidence looks low, and I think they could lose at Deepdale to turn up the heat.
