Dates, kick-off times and host cities – here’s the full schedule for AFCON 2021.
The tournament, originally scheduled to be played in June and July 2021, is being held in Cameroon between January 9 and February 6 2022, with Sky Sports showing all 52 games live.
Twenty-four teams are taking part. The action kicked off with hosts Cameroon beating Burkina Faso in Yaounde, and will culminate in the final on February 6 at the same Olembe Stadium.
Tuesday at AFCON
Cameroon’s progress at the Africa Cup of Nations was overshadowed by a stampede outside the stadium that killed at least six people during the host nation’s victory over Comoros.
Cameroon are scheduled to play another tournament debutant on Saturday in the quarter-finals in Douala after Gambia beat Guinea 1-0 in the day’s other game after a goal from Musa Barrow in the 71st minute/

On Tuesday, it is the turn of Senegal vs Cape Verde at the Kouekong Stadium, Bafoussam – 4pm, live on Sky Sports Football – followed by Morocco vs Malawi – 7pm, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Cape Verde reached the knockout stages after finishing with four points in their Group A, enough to end up as one of the best third-placed teams to guarantee their spot in the Round of 16.
2019 runners-up Senegal topped their Group B with five points and have still to concede a goal in the competition. They defeated Cape Verde 2-0 when both teams played in an international friendly match in June last year.
Morocco go into Tuesday’s match at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo as favourites and have only lost to the Flames once in their 10 meetings – Malawi’s single victory coming in the 1993 edition of AFCON.
The Atlas Lions also received a boost as wing back Achraf Hakimi joined Monday’s training session after spending the duration of Sunday’s in the team hotel, but it is unclear what part the 23-year-old will play.
Underdogs Malawi are competing in just their third AFCON and have already guaranteed 2021 will be their best-ever performance at the tournament by qualifying for the knockout stages for the first time in their history.
